How much does it cost to book a speaker?
The cost of booking a speaker depends on the individual speaker you wish to hire. Speaker's fees are based on a number of factors, including popularity, event requirements and the individual speaker's availability. In most cases, travel and lodging expenses are in addition to the speaker fee. At Speakers House Canada we will work to find a speaker that will accommodate your budget.

Are the speaker's fees negotiable?
Some speakers are willing to negotiate their fees in consideration of charity and fundraising events.

Can I save money with short travel arrangements or by hosting local events?
Yes, you can save money by booking a speaker that will be in your area during the time of your event or by hiring a speaker that resides in your area.

How do I find the right speaker for my event?
Simply tell us about the event you are planning and we can make some speaker suggestions. At Speakers House Canada we will work to find the perfect speaker for your event.

How can I find out if a speaker is available?
Just contact us by email or phone and let us know when and where you are hosting the event, along with the speaker you would like to hire. We will let you know if the speaker is available for your event.

Are there videos available of speakers that I can review before hiring them?
Our goal at Speakers House Canada is to have video clips available of all our speakers, we will begin adding video clips shortly. We apologize if a video is not currently available on a speaker's profile that you are interested in.

Can I talk to the speaker after I hire them?
Absolutely! In fact, at Speakers House Canada we encourage this. This gives you the opportunity to clarify the expectations of your audience and get to know the speaker on a more personalized basis.

Can I record or video tape a speaker?
Written permission must be obtained by the speaker prior to your event. Usually speakers will agree to taping for internal organizational use only.

Will the speaker attend a reception before or after the event?
If you would like the speaker to appear at a reception or an autograph session, before or after the event, simply let us know. Speakers are more than happy to make themselves available.

Will the speaker be available to sign copies of their books at the event?
Yes, if you would like to have books available at your event the speaker would be happy to sign them for you and your guests.

I want to give everyone attending a copy of the speaker's book. Can I get a discount?
Yes. As the speaker's publisher we are able to offer a special discount on the purchase of books for your event.

Can you help me with selling books at the event?
We are more than happy to arrange for a local bookseller in your area to sell books at your event.

What is the difference between "exclusive" and "non-exclusive" representation of speakers?
Some speaking agencies with exclusive contracts are contractually obligated to a certain number of engagements and income per year for exclusive speaker agreements. They may promote one of their exclusive speakers even if there may be a more suitable speaker for your event.

All of the speakers at Speakers House Canada have signed non-exclusive agreements. This gives us the freedom and luxury of finding the right speaker for your event. At Speakers House Canada we are free to recommend the best choice for your particular event and needs.

Can I book a speaker who is being represented by another agency through you?
Yes. We can contact speaking agencies to determine speaking fees and availability for any speaker. This is a common industry practice and there are no extra fees or service charges for this service. Speakers House Canada is committed to working for you to find the right speaker for your event and we will contact any speaker or agency to determine their fees and availability.

Can I book a Random House of Canada Limited or McClelland & Stewart Ltd. author who is not listed on the Speaker's House Canada website?
Yes. If you are interested in booking a particular author that you do not see listed simply let us know. At Speakers House Canada we are committed to finding you the perfect speaker for your event and will contact any author to determine their fees and availability.

How do I become a speaker?
All of the speakers we represent are published authors from Random House of Canada Limited, McClelland & Stewart Ltd. or one of the Imprints or Client Publishers we represent in Canada.
