Margaret Shaw-MacKinnon

I am the mother of Margaret-Eve, Arthur and Olivia, and wife of inner-city English teacher Brian MacKinnon. I love creative processes — relationships, word and image making, spirituality. My award-winning fairy tale Tiktala, illustrated by Laszlo Gal, was published by Stoddart in Toronto and Holiday House in New York. I write pieces ranging from adult intellectual essays to interactive children's stories on the Internet. My most recent project is a readers' theatre play, written for Parks Canada, titled Beaver and Crow and the Circle of Truths: A Journey into Manitoba History. I am currently working in the Manitoba Arts Council's Artists-in-the-Schools Program, leading children through this imaginative interaction with the province's past.
